PLEASE NOTE THAT:
Porcelain tiles are inherently not perfectly flat due to the challenges encountered during the firing process, particularly in maintaining flatness during the shrinkage phase.
To address this issue, ISO tolerances have been established. According to these standards, warpage is permitted within a range of 0.5% of the tile's length. Any deviation beyond this threshold is considered a defect.
For instance, on a 1200mm long porcelain tile, a warpage of up to 6mm is acceptable within these standards. Please refer to the attached simple chart for guidance on measuring warpage.
For instance, when dealing with a 1200mm long porcelain tile, we anticipate the warpage to ideally remain below 2-4mm, rather than reaching the maximum allowable limit of 6mm.
To clarify further: this measurement of 2-4mm applies to each side when using a spirit level positioned at the centre of the tile - as illustrated in the attached diagram above.
It's important to recognize that achieving absolute flatness in porcelain tiles is challenging. Different production batches may vary slightly in curvature, but generally, some degree of bowing is typical in porcelain tiles.
Consequently, laying oblong tiles in a 50% brick bond pattern while maintaining a perfectly flush surface is difficult. Therefore, our recommendation for installation on an adhesive bed includes two precautions:
Firstly, we advise offsetting oblong porcelain tiles by no more than 30%.
Secondly, and perhaps more crucially, we suggest using self-levelling caps & clips during installation. These simple tools greatly assist in keeping the floor surface level.
You can buy them HERE.
If any of our tiles deviate from the specified parameters and exhibit warping, we require pictures and tile quantities to conduct a review.
We recommend that our customers carefully review all of this information before placing the order and accepting the delivery!
WASTAGE
During the installation process, it will be necessary to make cuts to slabs to accommodate corners, drain covers, and curvatures, and into corners, or to fit them into your space without compromising the design. As a result, there will always be some waste in the form of off-cuts. We strongly recommend ordering an additional 10-15% of the product to account for this waste, including any mistakes during the laying, accidental damage on-site, and natural variations that you may prefer not to use.
Each product's square meter (m²) coverage indicates the total area that can be covered using the stone, including the recommended joint widths for the spaces between the slabs. This provides a realistic estimation of the area that the product will cover once installed, helping you accurately place your order. The coverage area of the stone alone can be calculated by considering the measurements and quantities of the slabs.
PAVING PRODUCTS BATCHES
We cannot guarantee exact match of paving products unless ordered at the same time on the same delivery!
DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS
- We usually deliver on working days, excluding bank and public holidays, usually between 8 am to 6 pm.
- The access road surface must be suitable for large heavy vehicles (tarmac, block paving, or concrete). Our lorries cannot operate on rough, loose, or soft ground.
- We are likely to be using either a 7.5t or 18t lorry with a tail lift. The road, gate, or any access point must be at least 3m wide and high. Ensure the delivery point is free of obstacles and there is enough room for our lorry to turn.
- Our driver will use a pump truck to position your pallet. Please ensure the surface is hard, flat, and level. Pump trucks can’t operate on gravel, grass, sand, or any other soft surface.
- Delivery will be kerbside, please ensure the surface is level, flat, and hard to allow the pump truck to operate.
-
It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that there is ample room for the lorry to park by the kerb to safely unload. If there is no available space and the delivery vehicle has to pull over on double yellow lines it will be down to the customer to accept the risk if the driver receives a ticket whilst doing so. The alternative is to ask the driver to return another time, but this will be subject to a redelivery cost payable before the delivery is made.
1. Even with our best efforts, we cannot always ensure that breakages will not occur during transit. It's recommended that you order about 10-15% more of what you need for any cutting, waste, or possible future repairs. For successful claims, we will issue a refund for the total value of the damaged goods. It is important to understand that we do not provide free replacements. Please note that we do not offer free replacements. We will unfortunately not be refunding or replacing if the breakages fall under 10%.
2. Make sure you or someone authorised on your behalf is available to sign for the delivery, otherwise, you may be responsible for an additional fee for redelivery per package in case the items cannot be left attended. On delivery, please check product delivered is correct and not damaged. Any return and exchange after the delivery has been signed for will go through our normal exchange/return procedures potentially incurring costs to you. Any damaged goods have to be reported to our office and the driver at the time of delivery. They need to be signed for so the customer can put in a claim.
3. Please be sure that you have the full amount of useable goods on-site before booking any trade persons or starting your project. This will give you the necessary time to check for damage and raise a claim before your project starts and will avoid any damages holding up work. Stone Saver cannot be held liable for any situations outside of our control such as agreements or contracts between the customer and their contractor. Due to the natural character of some products, there might be differences in colour shades and grain patterns, and therefore a ‘random’ laying pattern might be required.
How long does the delivery take?
Most mainland deliveries will take approximately 3 working days. When your order is ready, you will be notified by a member of our team to arrange a suitable delivery time for you. Any exceptions are usually mentioned in the product decsription.
Please, keep in mind that we do our best effort to deliver the products on the agreed delivery date. Our deliveries are handled by a third-party delivery company and although we strive to deliver the goods within the provided timeframe, please note that the timeframe is an estimate and not guaranteed. Consequently, we cannot be held accountable for any circumstances beyond our control that may cause a delay in your delivery. Please be aware that you are not eligible for any form of compensation in such cases.
We highly recommend refraining from scheduling any tradesperson or equipment hire until the goods have been delivered to avoid any potential delays due to unforeseen circumstances.
What do I need to know about the lorry delivering my order?
We are likely to be using either a 7.5t or 18t lorry with a tail lift. This type of vehicle must be allowed to get as close to your delivery point as possible. The road, gate, or any access point must be at least 3m wide and high. You are responsible for ensuring the access for our lorry is clear with no overhanging trees or cables. Please ensure the delivery point is free of obstacles and there is enough room for our lorry to turn. Our lorries can only access delivery areas that are flat and solid enough to take the weight of the pallet. The access road surface must be suitable for large heavy vehicles (tarmac, block paving, or concrete). Our lorries cannot operate on rough, loose, or soft ground.
Do you deliver into my driveway or back garden?
All deliveries are kerbside by default and it is at the driver’s discretion how close to your property it can be delivered. The driver will be using a manual pump truck to wheel the goods in so please ensure the access is clear with a flat and even surface. The pump truck can’t operate on gravel or grass.
Do I need to be present at the delivery?
Yes, we strongly recommend you oversee the delivery of your order. Any challenges and difficulties will be easier to overcome.
For the composite decking & cladding deliveries, we recommend having a forklift available at your site to unload the goods. Another option is to have a sufficient number of people available on your site to be able to open & split the pallet on the lorry and unload the goods from the pallet by hand. This will be done at your own risk. You accept this risk by placing your order.
What if delivery fails?
If these guidelines are not followed and the delivery fails, you will be liable for all costs including but not limited to;
-
Redelivery charge
-
Return delivery to us
-
Restocking fee
DAMAGES
Slabs can often still be utilized as offcuts in cases where they are damaged.
We recommend utilizing these slabs in a way that discards the damaged portion, allowing you to maximize the usage of the stone without laying anything that may be unsuitable.
It is common for slabs to have chips on the edges or corners, which can occur during unpacking or transportation. These chips generally do not affect the performance of the slab and are typically concealed once the patio has been pointed.
